Qatar Flag Pictures
The national flag of Qatar has a similar look to the flag of Bahrain. The Qatar flag has maroon and white. The left side of the flag is a vertical stripe in white and the right side is maroon. There is a serrated edge on both colors with nine points. The white of the flag represents peace. The maroon, which had been red, is symbolic of the Kharijite Muslims and the blood spilt during the wars Qatar has fought in. The nine points between the colors are indicative of Qatar being the 9th member of the 'reconciled Emirates' of the Arabian Gulf. Maroon was chosen over red to distinguish the flag from neighboring countries. The Qatar flag was officially adopted on July 9, 1971.
